SpeakEd Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 28, 2026

SpeakEd is an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) app that helps people communicate by tapping picture tiles that are spoken aloud. This policy explains what information the app handles and how. We designed SpeakEd to keep your communication board on your device and to collect as little personal information as possible.

Information we collect

How we use information

How information is stored and shared

Account authentication is provided by Google’s Firebase. Sign-in may also involve Apple (Sign in with Apple) and Google (Google Sign-In). Subscriptions are handled by Apple. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties except as needed to provide these sign-in and subscription services.

Microphone and photo access

SpeakEd asks for microphone access only when you choose to record a voice for a tile, and for photo access only when you choose to add a photo to a tile. You can change these permissions at any time in your device’s Settings.

Children’s privacy

SpeakEd is often used by children with the help of a parent, teacher, or caregiver. We do not knowingly collect more personal information than is needed to provide the app. If you believe a child has provided personal information you would like removed, contact us using the details below and we will delete it.

Deleting your data

Photos, recordings, and board data are removed when you delete them in the app or remove the app from your device. To delete your account and associated authentication data, contact us at the email below and we will process your request.

Data security

We rely on Apple and Google platform protections and industry-standard safeguards to protect your information. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
